What is Tekserve’s return policy?

Items may be returned to Tekserve within 14 days from when you received your purchase. The original packaging and accessories are required for all returns. Please let us know if you prefer an exchange, replacement, or refund when you request a return by mail or visit Tekserve to return your item. You are responsible for return shipping charges. Opened items will be charged a 15% restocking fee.

Defective items will be exchanged without a restocking fee. We encourage you to call the manufacturer of your item for technical support before returning it. About half the time, the manufacturer can fix the problem faster than we can replace the item. If you can not return the item to Tekserve, almost all products have a manufacturer warranty that will provide a repair or exchange for the malfunctioning item. Tekserve has a lifetime warranty on our memory (RAM) and cables.

The following items may not be returned once opened (defective items will be exchanged):

  • Software
  • Paper
  • In-ear buds
  • Printers with installed ink or toner
  • Ink and toner

Labor costs are not refundable.

How do I return something by mail?

Please contact us for an RMA # by emailing websales@tekserve.com or calling (888) 929-3645. Please let us know why you are returning the item and if you would like a replacement, exchange, or refund.

You must mark your RMA# on the shipping label and be sure to include all parts of the product being returned, including all original packaging, cables, manuals, etc. For faster processing, please email your return tracking number to websales@tekserve.com.

We cannot refund your original shipping charges. You are responsible for all shipping charges except if the mistake was our fault.

Once your item is received by Tekserve, your exchange, refund, or replacement will be processed within 5 business days. Refunds will be credited to the same credit card used to place the order. To check the status of any return, please email websales@tekserve.com.

How do I return something to Tekserve's retail store?

Visit us at 119 W 23rd St. (between 6th & 7th avenues) New York, NY 10011. (View Store Hours & Directions.)

Make sure to bring all parts of the product being returned, including all original packaging, cables, manuals, etc. Refunds will be electronically credited back to the same credit card used to place the order. We cannot refund your original shipping charges. Refunds will be processed within 5 business days. To check on the status of any return, please email websales@tekserve.com.

What forms of payment does Tekserve accept?

Through our web store at Tekserve.com we accept:

  • Visa
  • MasterCard
  • American Express
  • Discover

Although not available through Tekserve.com, please call (888) 929-3645 to use any of these forms of payment:

  • Tekserve Gift Card a.k.a Tekbucks
  • Bank Wire Transfer (requires additional processing days to verify payment)
  • Business Lease

  • Money orders
  • Cashiers Checks (requires photo ID)

Can I use multiple forms of payment on one order?

This feature is not available on Tekserve.com. If you call us at (888) 929-3645 or visit our store, we can split your payment over multiple credit cards or Tekserve Gift Cards.

Does Tekserve offer a lay-away program or financing plans?

We do not have any financing options for individuals at this time. We offer 2- and 3-year leases for businesses. Learn more about business leasing or call (212) 381-6381.

Does Tekserve charge sales tax?

Tekserve charges sales tax on orders shipped to addresses in New York state and picked up at our store. Sales tax is not charged on orders shipped outside New York state.

My business or school is tax exempt in New York state. How can I place an order?

First email your blanket tax exemption form to websales@tekserve.com or fax it to (212) 463-9280. Then call (888) 929-3645 to place your order by phone. We cannot process tax exempt orders through Tekserve.com at this time. Once we have a blanket tax exempt form on file for your organization, future purchases can be processed as tax exempt through phone sales or at our retail store.

If you've placed an order on Tekserve.com and need the sales tax charge refunded, please email websales@tekserve.com. We can process a sales tax refund up to 30 days after your order was placed.

What are Tekserve's pricing policies?

All prices are final at the time of sale. Prices are subject to change without notice. We may refuse orders for products with pricing typographical errors.

Why did I get call from Tekserve's verification department requesting more information?

In order to prevent credit card fraud and offer you the lowest prices possible, we may require additional information to process your order. In order to prevent these delays, please call your credit card company to authorize your shipping address (if it is different from your billing address).

If your order requires additional verification, you will receive a call and/or email from us within one business day of placing your order. Your order will not be processed until we hear from you.

Online credit card fraud is a major problem. Fraud forces businesses to charge higher prices, credit card companies to charge higher fees, and consumers to spend an average of 30 hours recovering from identity fraud. Educate yourself about common scams and protect your personal information with tips from avoiding spam, viruses, and other deliberately bad stuff. Another good resource for internet fraud is the FBI's LooksTooGoodToBeTrue.com education site for consumers.

What are Tekserve’s shipping policies?

We offer the following shipping services:

  • Ground (delivers in 4–5 business days after shipping)
  • Two Day (delivers in 2 business days after shipping)
  • Next Day (delivers in 1 business days after shipping)
  • Store Pickup at our Manhattan location (ready for pickup within 1 day)
  • Messenger delivery in Manhattan (same–day delivery on orders placed before 1pm Monday–Saturday)

Out of stock products will take longer to ship. Call (888) 929–3645 to verify the availability of any product.

PO Boxes & Military Addresses: Please select UPS Saver or UPS Ground shipping (two day and next day shipping is not available). We will use USPS parcel service to deliver your order. We usually do not ship to international addresses, except for APO/FPO addresses.

We require a signature for delivery on most orders. You will receive a tracking number after your order ships. The carrier will attempt to deliver up to three times. You may also have the package held for pickup at your local UPS or FedEx center. To have your package held or redelivered, follow the instructions on the call slip left on the first delivery attempt.

Tekserve ships items Monday through Friday except on these holidays:

Can I use my own FedEx or UPS account number for shipping charges?

Call (888) 929-3645 to place your order and have it shipped using a corporate account.

Can I have my order delivered by messenger today?

Same–day messenger delivery is available in Manhattan on orders placed by 1pm Monday through Saturday. Someone must be available to sign for the delivery at your location. You may choose delivery before 5pm or after 6pm. For other times or delivery to other boroughs, please call us at (888) 929–3645.

Can I pick up my order at Tekserve's retail store?

Select "Store Pickup" when checking out to pick up your order at Tekserve (see store map & hours). During check out, you can choose to be notified by email or phone. You will be contacted when your order is ready to be picked up (within one business day). You can also call (888) 929–3645 to place your order over the phone and pick up the items at Tekserve.

Can Tekserve deliver orders outside the United States?

Tekserve can not ship orders internationally. However, we will ship to military APO/FPO addresses. Read more about Tekserve's shipping policies.

Can I see the Mac before I buy it? What's the physical condition of the computer?

The physical condition of the Mac is listed at the top of the description. You have a 14-day return policy (with no restock fee) to decide whether or not you like the machine. If it doesn't meet your expectations, just return it with all the accessories and packaging for a full refund or exchange.

What operating system comes on the Mac?

The Mac will have the operating system that was originally sold with the machine. This is listed on the Mac's description near the top. If you would like a newer operating system, we recommend the Snow Leopard box set because the earlier versions of iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, etc.) are not fully compatible with Snow Leopard. Please ask us about upgrading to Leopard.

Can I upgrade the memory (RAM), hard drive, video card, or battery?

Of course! Just ask us in the special instructions field when you place your order. We'll contact you with all your upgrade options.

Can I extend the warranty or buy AppleCare?

All used Macs have the 90-day Tekserve warranty (more details on that below). Units still in Apple Warranty (and eligible for AppleCare) are noted in the green text on the web. Units with AppleCare coverage are also noted there. If only the 90-day Tekserve warranty is shown, there is no way to extend the warranty.

Do you have a certain Mac available for sale?

All the used Macs that have finished the testing and cleaning process are listed online. New units are posted most weekdays. Please check our used Mac sales page.

What is the return and warranty policy on Used Macs?

Used Macs purchased from Tekserve have a 90-day Tekserve warranty on components that fail under normal use. You also have 14 days (after you receive the computer) to return it with NO restocking fee (as long as all original packaging and accessories are returned).

Used Macs 90-day Parts & Labor Warranty

Used Macs have a 90-day Tekserve warranty on parts and labor for any parts that may fail under normal use. All repairs must be performed at Tekserve. If you can't visit Tekserve, you can mail in your Mac for service. We offer free ground shipping back to you, after the repair is completed, but you are responsible for getting your Mac to us.

This warranty does not cover any software or your personal data. Please keep copies of your software and backup your personal files. Damage from accidents, abuse, electrical surge, fire, liquid, or other external causes are not covered. Phone support is not included.

How Do I Initiate a Repair?

Email service@tekserve.com with your Mac’s serial number and a description of the problem you’re having. We’ll contact you within one business day with instructions to mail-in your Mac. You can also visit Tekserve in NYC to start a repair without waiting. Phone support is not included with your warranty.

Is Tekserve an Authorized Apple Dealer?

Yes. Tekserve is one of the largest Apple Authorized Sales & Service Centers in the United States. We are authorized to sell Apple products and perform service on Apple computers. We have been serving Mac users for over 20 years in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City.

Can I buy a new Mac or iPod at Tekserve.com?

Our contract with Apple limits the sale of current Apple products on the Internet to our existing customers. If you haven't shopped with us before, stop by our store in Manhattan.

Does Tekserve sell refurbished or used Apple products?

Used Macs are available exclusively through the Tekserve web store. We often have open-box Macs and iPods available for sale at our retail store. These are Apple products that someone bought and returned, so you get them at a discount but still receive the full Apple warranty. Once in a while we also have refurbished Apple products.

Does Tekserve have educational discounts?

Apple does not allow us to extend their educational discounts. We do offer educational software discounts for students and faculty on Adobe, Quark, Avid and some other titles.

Can I trade-in my Mac or iPod?

Tekserve accepts items for trade-in at our retail store. We accept iPod trade-ins (dead or alive) for a 10% discount off your new iPod purchase. We accept recent working Macs in good condition for trade-in credit towards a new Mac. Learn more about the trade-in program and get an estimate.

What other brands is Tekserve authorized to sell?

Tekserve is an authorized dealer for every product listed on Tekserve.com. We have longstanding relationships with many of the most popular Mac-compatible manufacturers including Adobe, Bose, Digidesign, Epson, G-Tech, Glyph, LaCie, Mackie, Parallels, Samsung, Wacom, and many more.

What is Tekserve's privacy policy?
