Mac Trade-in Program
Trading up to a new Mac is fast and easy at Tekserve. Save yourself some money on a new Mac while putting your old Mac to good use.
Updated! Apple Computers Eligible for Trade-in
Tekserve accepts all Intel Macs for trade-in towards a new Mac at our store. This includes the MacBook Pro, MacBook, iMac (Intel), Mac Pro, Mac mini (Intel).
If your Mac has dings or damaged parts, Tekserve will deduct the cost of repairs from your trade-in credit.
We do not accept PowerBook G4, iBook G4, Power Mac G5, or iMac G5 for trade-in credit at this time. If your Mac does not qualify for our trade-in program, we can still transfer your data and then recycle your computer. Tekserve also collects working computers to donate to Material for the Arts.
1. Back-up Your Mac (or we'll do it for you)
You can either back-up your Mac before you bring it in or plan to apply some of your trade-in credit towards having your data transferred to the new Mac. We recommend creating a complete bootable clone backup or use Time Machine to backup your data to an external hard drive. Your Mac will be securely erased after you trade it in or have us transfer your data.
2. Bring Your Mac & Accessories Into Tekserve
Bring your old computer into Tekserve (map & directions) with as many of its original accessories as possible: box, power cord, software installation discs, keyboard, and mouse.
Our staff will have the Mac tested and give you a final trade-in offer based on the computer's condition and accessories included. If you accept the offer, your trade-in credit will be instantly applied towards the purchase of a new Apple computer.
If you'd like to get a ball-park estimate of what your Mac might be worth before coming in, please submit the trade-in form. You'll receive an initial estimate via email in 1-2 business days, but we can't give you a firm trade-in offer until we test your Mac. You and your computer must be able to come into Tekserve, we do not accept trade-ins by mail.
3. Choose a New Mac
Tekserve carries the largest selection of custom-configured Mac models in NYC, so we can create the perfect Mac solution for you. If you've already backed up your old Mac, you'll leave with a new computer. If you'd like us to transfer your data from the old computer onto the new computer (for an additional fee), the process takes about 24 hours.
