AppleCare extends your computer’s hardware warranty and phone support to three years from the date of purchase. We highly recommend AppleCare to all of our Mac users. If you plan to call Apple phone support, AppleCare is usually a bargain, as Apple charges $49 per incident after the first 90 days. Phone support includes help with Apple software as well; if you use iLife, iWork, or an Airport network, you can get answers on your software questions directly from Apple. If you purchase an Apple Display or Airport product, your coverage extends to these devices as well. Also, for most products, AppleCare includes limited worldwide coverage, which can be a lifesaver if you are travelling outside the US.

AppleCare is also available for Apple TV, iPad, iPod, iPhone, and Apple Display products; these are excellent bargains, as they provide two full years of phone support and hardware coverage for a much lower cost than AppleCare for Mac.
The iPhone also has a new option for accidental damage coverage: AppleCare+. Along with the usual benefits of AppleCare, AppleCare+ provides coverage for up to two incidents of accidental damage for only $49 per incident. Compared to the price of a standard service replacement or Tekserve repair, AppleCare+ can save you $100 or more if you happen to damage your phone. AppleCare+ is the only AppleCare plan that MUST be purchased at the same time as your device, so it cannot be added later.
