Recycling Your Mac

Tekserve will accept your old computer and recycle it for you if you are purchasing a new computer from us. If your computer is still working, you may also trade it in for credit towards a new machine or donate it to the Materials for the Arts program at Tekserve.

Recycling Your iPod or iPhone

Bring your old iPod or iPhone into Tekserve - in working condition or not - for free environmentally friendly disposal and we will offer you a 10% discount on a new iPod purchased at the same time. iPods received for recycling are processed domestically and no hazardous material is shipped overseas.

Recycling Other Electornics

Tekserve also partners with the Lower East Side Ecology Center to offer free electronics recycling four Saturdays a year. To be notified of recycling events: join our mailing list, follow us on Twitter, or fan us on FaceBook. Our next event will be October 9, 2010.

Recycling Batteries

Tekserve always accepts used Apple batteries for recycling at no charge.

Donate your Working Computer

We are excited to announce that we have partnered up with Materials for the Arts to start a reuse initiative to get lightly-used electronics into the welcoming hands of NYC Department of Education classroom students and arts and cultural programs in-need throughout the five boroughs.

If you have a working computer that is 4 years old or less and are looking for a place to donate, look no further. Simply drop your working electronics off at Tekserve and Materials for the Arts will take care of the rest.

The details:

  • Fully working condition
  • Computers and peripherals, fax machines, copiers, DVD or VCR players, radios, cameras, and stereo equipment.
  • Desktop computers should include monitor, keyboard and mouse.
  • Computers need to be 4 years old or less.

Donors simply fill out their contact information and the value of their donation on our designated computer next to our customer service desk. A tax letter will be sent out upon confirmation of functioning equipment.

Where else can I donate my old computer?

Nearly any group accepting donations wants working computers, not junk. Many insist on fairly recent units that will get people smoothly onto the Internet. A few to try are:
