How do I know if my battery is subject to a safety recall?
Apple, Dell, and others all had battery recalls in 2005 for safety. Most of the problem batteries were made by Sony, normally a very reliable supplier. More recently, Apple has also offered to replace certain batteries for performance issues. You can check if your Mac is one of the models with a safety recall or performance issues with our list of all services and repair extensions.
Tekserve can replace eligible batteries for performance issues but batteries recalled for safety must be exchanged through the mail by using Apple's website.
