How do I change my desktop (background) picture?
- Save the desktop picture you want to use to your Mac. I save mine to a folder I created called "PrettyDesktops" in my Pictures folder but you can save it anywhere you'd like. If the picture you want is on a web page, drag and drop it into your folder to save it to your Mac.
- Open System Preferences (from the Apple menu in the upper-left corner of your screen) and select Desktop & Screen Saver from the top row.
- Select the Desktop tab and the press plus (+) in the lower left corner (highlighted in red). Select the folder that contains the desktop image you saved to your Mac, and click Choose.
- Select the desktop image you want in the right pane. Now you can use the pop-up menu highlighted in yellow to see what type of placement on your desktop works best. You can chose from filling, fitting, stretching, centering, or tilling the image. Remember little images won't look very good when stretched to fill a large screen.
- You can also have your Mac rotate the desktop picture by selecting the Change picture checkbox. You can select the Random order checkbox or all images in the folder will appear alphabetically by name.
