Can I use my iPod with multiple computers? Can I use my iPod with a Windows and a Mac computer?
Apple only supports using your iPod with different computers as long as the computers are running the same operating system and have similar versions of iTunes 7 or later. However, you can use third-party software such as MacDrive or XPlay to allow a Mac formatted iPod to be used by a Windows computer. Apple also does not support using multiple computers with any iPod shuffle model.
In order to connect your iPod to multiple computers, without erasing itself, you need to turn off automatic syncing. Connect your iPod to your computer, and select the iPod from the “Devices” category in iTunes. On the Summary tab, select the checkbox labeled “Manually manage music and videos.” Then click OK in the resulting dialog box and then Apply. Check out Apple support article HT1202 for more details.
Can I update or sync more than one iPod on the same computer?
Yes. Each iPod communicates a unique device identification number to your computer, allowing you to take advantage of automatic music transfers to your iPod even if you share a computer with another iPod user. You can choose to automatically update your entire music collection on multiple iPods or choose to update selected playlists, allowing you to transfer custom playlists to individual iPods.
