How can I make my iPod battery last longer?
According to Apple, the most important thing is to keep your iPod out of the sun or hot cars (even the glove box). Heat will degrade your battery’s performance the most. You should even take your iPod out of its case if it heats up noticeably while charging. Your iPod works best between 32° and 95°F, so your battery may not last very long on extra cold or extra hot days. Next, you’ll want to install any available iPod software updates on your iPod through iTunes. This is because some updates may improve battery life. The final tip for a longer battery lifespan is to use your iPod regularly. Go through at least one charge cycle per month. (Charge cycles are cumulative. If you use 25% of your iPod battery and recharge it each day, you’ll complete one charge cycle every 4 days.)
You can conserve power and make your iPod play for longer by following some of these tips. Use the Hold switch more often to prevent the iPod controls from inadvertently activating the iPod unnecessarily. In the Settings section of your iPod menu, check your backlight duration. Using the backlight less often saves power. If you don’t need the Equalizer, turn EQ off. Lastly, if your iPod has Wi-Fi, turn it off when you’re not using it by going to Settings > General > Network > Wi-Fi.
iPod batteries are designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity for 400 charge cycles. Tekserve offers battery upgrades on most iPod models.
