Do I need a firewall?
A firewall helps block incoming Internet traffic to your computer that you did not authorize. OS X comes with a pretty effective firewall. Using Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) you can configure it in the Sharing pane of System Preferences. Using Mac OS X 10.5-10.7, you can configure it in the Security pane of System Preferences under the Firewall tab.
