Which monitor is my computer compatible with?
The type of monitor that can be used with your computer is determined by the kind of video port(s) your computer has. Use our guide to find out what kind of display your computer supports:
Mini-DisplayPort |
Aluminum Unibody MacBook, Unibody MacBook Pro, iMac (2009 models), Mac Pro (Nehalem 2009 models) This port was introduced in October 2008 as the new standard video output and is found on all Macs released since. It will drive all three of our display offerings however they require adapters (included free of charge upon request). |
DVI |
PowerMac G5, Mac Pro, PowerBook (15-inch and 17-inch), MacBook Pro This port can connect to any of our monitors. However you must have a dual-link DVI port to support the 30" Apple Cinema display. To determine what type of DVI port your computer has, please refer to this diagram. In general the later models of 15" PowerBook G4s, all 17" PowerBook G4s, all MacBook Pros, most Power Mac G5s and all Mac Pros have dual-link DVI. |
Mini-DVI |
MacBook (white model), PowerBook G4 (later 12-inch models), iMac (Intel versions) This port can be used with a Mini-DVI adapter to connect to the Samsung LCD or the 23" Apple Cinema display. This port does not support the 30" Apple Cinema display. |
Micro-DVI
| MacBook Air This port can be used with a Micro-DVI adapter to connect to the Samsung LCD or the 23" Apple Cinema display. The Macbook Air does not support the 30" Apple Cinema display. |
VGA | iMac G3, Power Mac G3, PowerBook G3, early-model Power Mac G4, and most Windows PCs. This port can connect to the Samsung LCD, but will not work with either of the Apple Cinema displays. |
Mini-VGA |
iMac G5, eMac, iBook, PowerBook G4 (early 12-inch models) This port can be used with a Mini-VGA adapter to connect to the Samsung LCD. It will not work with the Apple Cinema displays. |
ADC |
Power Mac G4, Power Mac G5 (ADC to DVI adapters are available upon request) This port can be used with a DVI adapter to connect to either the Samsung LCD or the 23" Apple Cinema display. |
